DYnamic – MAXimum – tensION

“Dymaxion”- the idea that rational action in a rational world demands the most efficient overall performance per unit of input.

Buckminster Fuller. What a genius. What a prodigy. What a rational.

Camping Out

Round three of the H&M HIV/AIDS prevention campaign! For the S/S 2010 season, with music festivals as inspiration, suitable muses Lou Dillon and Elizabeth Jagger model the goods. I’m not so into purple leopard print, or paisley, but it works.  Plus, the fact that they included (a super cheap) tent and sleeping bag in this collection (and produce this campaign) is pretty awesome.  The low price tag may equate to a potentially soggy festival evening, but at least you’ll stand out.

The Sunday paper featured Phillipe Halsman’s jump photographs (!!) which look like an extraordinary amount of fun.

“When you ask a person to jump, his attention is mostly directed toward the act of jumping, and the mask falls, so that the real person appears.”

Exhibition closes Friday, so swing by this week! (20 West 57th Street)

Magnificent Earth

It’s Earth Day!

That means you should be in a park, or taking a hike, or planting trees, or smoking them or something, right?

However you celebrate, take a break with some nature, and feel exceptionally guilty about the amount of plastic bags you have.

Here are some picks from Volta and Pulse that were terribly taken on my phone.

Though hard to watch, i’m completely an advocate for anyone willing to hammer nails into their feet, if you’re not, I suggest skipping the video…you may vomit.

Dear Greece,

I’m sorry that you’re facing money troubles. However, these pictures still make me want to live in your land and absorb your landscape.

Toro Y Moi

Toro Y Moi is one my most recent crushes. Though C’était un Rendezvous (claude lelouch) is number one. If you don’t find the sound of a Ferrari driving at least 100 mph through Paris streets at 5am pleasureable, then this video may be your alternative.  C’était un Rendezvous is the backdrop for Toro Y Moi’s “talamak”.
